A Night of Hope Under the Stars: A fundraiser for the Cross Roads of Michigan at the Detroit Athletic Club Pavilion to benefit the needy in Detroit. 12th Annual Brighton’s Smokin’ Jazz & Barbecue Blues Festival: This event takes place in downtown Brighton. If you have a hankering for ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, pork tenderloin, sweet treats, specialty mac n’ cheese and more, this is as good a place as any to go. Friday, 5p.m. - 11:30p.m and Saturday, noon to 11:30 p.m.  For more info click here.

SATURDAY

The Dirtiest Most Bizarre Art Show That Is Not in an Alley, Ever! -- Calling all freaks, geeks, and weirdos. The Dirtiest, Most Bizarre Art Show That is Not in An Alley, Ever returns to the Old Miami on Saturday. This one-day festival features 30 of Detroit's best outsider artists, live aerialists, pole dancers, freakshow performers, awesome BBQ, DJ's, the Mz Dirtiest and Most Bizarre drag contest, live music and MORE!!! Emceed by the one and only Jimmy Doom. Saturday, Noon to 2 a.m. Old Miami, 3930 Cass Ave., Detroit.

Strawberry: What Party? -- Former Detroit Free Press reporter Carol Teegardin has produced a play titled "Strawberry: What Party?" It's about a stripper who was murdered in Detroit. One rumor is that she performed at the mayor's mansion and people wanted to shut her up. No one has ever been charged in the murder. Adray Auditorium at Henry Ford College, 5101 Evergreen, Dearborn. Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m. Sunday 3 p.m. 

2017 Art & Apples Festival: This event has transformed the 30-acre Rochester Park into one of the nation’s top fine art fairs with over 290 exhibiting artists from across the country. Friday, 4:p.m. – 7:30 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.; Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Click here for a map.

Detroit Lions: The tough Arizona Cardinals come to Ford Field in downtown Detroit on Sunday for the opener.  Will the Sports Gods give Detroiters a little gift after making fans suffer through a miserable Tigers season? Game time: 1 p.m.  Tickets.
