An 11-year-old boy was killed and his two sisters critically injured when they were run over by a boat as they were tubing on Sylvan Lake on Sunday afternoon, according to the Detroit Free Press.
The father, a West Bloomfield resident, was towing the three kids behind his personal watercraft on the lake about 12:30 p.m. when a second boat ran over the tube.
Both the father and the operator of the second boat, a resident of Sylvan Lake, stopped to help the children.
The accident is under investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff Office’s Marine Unit. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
