Three people face murder charges in connection with the death of Detroit Firefighter David Madrigal, 59, who was killed in December inside his west side Detroit home, just days before Christmas.

Timmy Lynn Soto, 32, of Detroit, Nicole Oneill, 33, of Detroit, and Christian Rasnick, 19,  of Trenton, have been charged in the murder, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office announced on Friday.

The Detroit News reports that Madrigal befriended the three people who used that trust to gain entry into his home.

The prosecutor's office alleges that the group went to the home on Vaughan Street and robbed, killed, and stole personal property from Madrigal. The cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

Soto and Resnick also drove the victim's car to an alley near the 3800 block of Bangor and set it on fire, the prosecutor's office alleges.

The body was discovered Dec. 19 at approximately 6:56 p.m.  on Bangor when the Detroit Fire Department responded to the fire.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said in a statement:

"It is very sad that the a 26-year veteran of the Detroit Fire Department was murdered.  We are glad to report that because of the tireless work of DPD homicide officers we are able to issue charges today."
