Holiday DLight @night
Downtown Woodward hosted a block party Friday night across from the old Hudson's sight. Merchants Row shops like The Detroit Shoppe and Spielhaus Toys will be open, giving out goodies. Live musicians and street performers will be basking in the block's fantastic coating of holiday lights. Plus, the usual holiday festivities will be going on at Campus Martius --- skating and holiday pop-up shops.
Festivities were from 6-9PM Friday night. Organizers are also collecting clothing and hygiene products to donate to charity.

Rapt.fm Cypher
As part of Holiday DLight, Rapt.fm hosted a cypher outside of the Hudson Cafe. Let's break that down. Rapt.fm is a local startup that facilitates open online rap battles. A cypher is a community rap gathering -- less of a competition and more of a group training session -- where anyone can weigh in with their rhymes at any time.
It was Friday night.

Santarchy
Look out, Detroit. Santa is coming to town Saturday night, and he probably had a bit to drink. Detroit's annual Santarchy bar crawl brings hundreds of Santa-clad partiers together for a very festive holiday party. So, don't worry if your favorite local watering hole is full of Santas. They'll go back to the North Pole on Sunday.
Bus pickups occur around Metro Detroit, plus Ann Arbor, Ypsi and Monroe . $20 tickets are also available at the Gaelic League in Corktown.

Grand And Woodward Holiday Stop
The Grand and Woodward corridor presents its own holiday market this weekend, focusing on local neighborhood goods and services. They also promise programming and activities for all ages, from very young to very old.
Check it out at 6558 Woodward from 10AM to 4PM Saturday and Sunday.

Frontier Anarchy Tour
Want to learn about the "governors and steamboat captains, tobacco magnates and tabloid darlings" of Detroit's past? Let the Detroit Bus Co. and Amy Elliott Bragg, author of Hidden History of Detroit, take you around town Saturday afternoon. With Bragg, it's sure to be insightful and hilarious. Tickets are $35 with bus pickups in Detroit, Ferndale and Royal Oak. Bring your drink of choice for sipping on the bus!
Detroit Bus Co. is also offering a second tour Saturday-- a bar crawl combined with prohibition history.

Tired Of The Holiday Theme?
Catch a flick at the Burton Theater, a school-turned-cinema on Cass and Peterboro. This weekend, they're showing White Reindeer, A Punk Christmas and Detroit Unleaded, a locally made flick about love in a gas station and growing up in Detroit.
Bonus: Winter Wonderland at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House on Saturday.
