Senseless violence only seems all the more outrageous when the victim is an infant.
A 6-month-old girl, Miracle Murray, one of three children playing in the front yard of a home on Clarita Avenue and Winthrop Street on Saturday around 1 p.m., was hit by gunfire, Fox 2's Hannah Sanders reports.
A relative rushed her to a hospital, where she pronounced dead.
A 24-year-old man who was watching the children at the home on Detroit's west side, was shot and wounded, police tell Fox 2. The other children were not harmed.
A few hours after the shooting, police arrested two suspects, Christopher Long Jr. and Jose Jackson, in Lincoln Park. Jackson may have been involved in an Easter Sunday shooting that killed a 3-year-old girl, the station reports. He had been arrested and released in that case.
The third suspect, believed to be the gunman, has not yet been identified.
A third suspect, who is believed to be the shooter, is still at large.
The suspects may be linked to a street gang, Police Chief James Craig says. A older model silver-gray Saturn with three men circled the block before gunfire rang out from the car.
