Police have a 65-year-old Detroit man in custody after he killed two women at his senior housing complex who he blamed for the breakup with his girlfriend, Tammy Stables Battaglia reports in the Free Press.
The man and his girlfriend broke up after an argument at 5:30 p.m. at the Pablo Davis Elder Living Center, 9200 W. Vernor, according to a release issued by the Detroit Police Department.
The man then got a rifle from his apartment and began searching for two people he thought were responsible for the end of his relationship, according to investigators. First, he shot a friend of his ex-girlfriend, a 54-year-old woman, one time. She was pronounced dead on arrival at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Second, he shot a 65-year-old woman multiple times. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Detroit Police spokeswoman Kelly Miner today said names are not being released because police are still trying to notify next of kin.
