
Shiver On The River
Belle Isle will be in full swing Saturday during Shiver On The River, an annual event to ward off the winter blues. All of Belle Isle's attraction will be open, including the Casino, a rare treat!

Babe Ruth's Birthday Party
Baseball fans will descend upon bars around Detroit Saturday to celebrate Babe Ruth's birthday. Nemo's in Corktown is right next to the old Tiger Stadium, making it a great place to reminisce about baseball greats.
Tom's Tavern on 7 Mile and Wyoming is another great spot. It claims to have the original Babe Ruth Birthday Party and will be serving free hot dogs and Cracker Jacks all night.

Eat At A New Restaurant
Zef's second location in Midtown opened recently, serving up the classic coney island food on Woodward next to the Majestic.

Black Comic Book Day
Celebrate Black Comic Book Day at the Detroit Public Library's main branch on Woodward. Local vendors will be there selling books, posters, tshirts and "other merchandise pertaining to black comic books."
The event is open fromm 11-5 Saturday and admission is free.

See A Local Film
A local filmmaker is premiering his documentary this weekend at the Museum Of African American History. "Madmen Or Martyr" is about white abolitionist John Brown, the abolitionist movement and the Underground Railroad. And oh yeah, the filmmaker's 17.
See it Friday. Doors at 5:30, show at 6. Admission is free.

Pop-Up Book Shop
A bookshop just for poetry and small press publications will be popping up in Eastern Market starting Saturday. UDP:D (short for Ugly Duckling Presse: Detroit) will be located in side Salt & Cedar, a letter press shop on Riopelle.
Browse the lit at UDP:D any Friday or Saturday for the next three months.
