America's Thanksgiving Parade

Though Thursday's televised hoopla is over, parade lovers can check out old floats and art in the lobby of the Fisher Building all weekend -- as well as our gallery of the 16 best sights from this year's event.

Shop In Detroit

Forget black Friday. Downtown Detroit is the real deal -- check out Detroit's retail options on small business Saturday instead, many of which opened just in time for the holiday season. Discounts are promised. D:hive runs free shuttles around greater downtown Saturday afternoon.

Jessica Hernandez And The Deltas

Local lady Jessica Hernandez and her band will be home for one show on their tour. Catch the soulful rockers at St. Andrew's Hall Wednesday night.

Tickets are available here and at Mexicantown Bakery. The band is also asking guests to bring food donations to benefit Loaves and Fishes Southwest Detroit.

A Kooky Opera

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Wayne State University Symphonic Chorus are teaming up for the world premiere of a "total nonsense" opera called Dum Dee Tweedle. Loosely based on "Alice in Wonderland," the Wolfgang And Wonderland production promises to please both classical music aficionados and newbies just looking for a great show. Check out a preview here.

See it Saturday night or Sunday afternoon. Sunday's performance also will be streaming live online.

HLDYMRKT

That's "Holiday Market," vowels optional. The pop-up bazaar brings local vendors from around Southeast Michigan to Hamtramck for a one day holiday shopping fest in the Hamtramck space also occupied by The Detroit Bus Company. The organizers are also responsible for Pot & Box and VLTNSDYMRKT.

See it Saturday from 10-7.
