Happy Dilla Day!

Celebrate legendary Detroit artist and producer J Dilla during the annual Dilla Day concert at the Fillmore Friday night.

Winter Blast

Downtown is looking extra wintery as the annuan Winter Blast festival kicks off Friday. Programming runs all weekend and includes a giant slide made of snow, kids hockey competition and concerts. Most importantly, there will also be a girl scout cookie sale.

The Dirty Show

It's almost Valentine's Day, which means it's also time for The Dirty Show. You've got one week to see a giant and very popular display of erotic art. Artist Jerry Vile (who's also responsible for the giant Crisco can and Detroit's going out of business advertisement) will be putting on this year's show at the Russell Industrial Center.

Tickets are $25.


Pretend Your Art Is Displayed At The DIA

Sit in a gallery at the DIA and let those creative juices flow! The museum is providing supplies and instruction to participants of their Friday evening class. 

Get drawing at 6PM this Friday or any Friday evening for the next month.
 


MOCAD Winter Opening

Detroit's Museum Of Contemporary Art will be showing of its new exhibitions Friday night. Shows include a collection of objects left behind by undocumented migrant workers and a collection of work by Detroiter and performance artist James Lee Byars.

It opens for members at 6 and the public at 7. A $5 donation is suggested.


Berserker Music Fest

This Ferndale punk and metal week-long concert series started Wednesday, but continues rocking through Saturday. 

Check out any of the the 15 bands a day starting at 7PM Friday and Saturday.


Eat This Right Now

Eater Detroit profilied Parisien transplant ChloĆ© Sabatier, who makes such deliciously decadent lava cakes, it's worth it to actively seek them out. Seriously. 

You can usually find "Chez ChloƩ" treats at any artist market around Detroit, but Eastern Market is a sure fire bet. Her lava cakes are also sold at Always Brewing Detroit, Le Petit Zine and Great Lakes.
