Media folks try to cover the story, not become it.

Allison Howard, a producer for A&E''s "The First 48" failed that lesson miserably.

On Thursday morning, she was sentenced to 24 months probation and up to 200 hours of community service after pleading no contest to obstruction of justice in the investigation into the death of 7-year-old Aiyana Jones. The sentencing was broadcast live on WXYZ-TV.

In June, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy issued a statement about her:

"Howard obstructed justice by lying to prosecutors about copying, showing or giving video footage that she shot of the raid to third parties causing a significant delay in the investigation of the case."

She is currently unemployed and lives in Massachusetts.

The trial involving the cop Joseph Weekly, who shot Aiyana Jones, ended in a deadlock.  Prosecutors plan to retry him.
