Karen Weaver
Well, it took more than a decade into the 21st Century, but Flint elected it's first female mayor.
Mayor Karen Weaver was sworn in Monday at Flint's City Hall, the Detroit Free Press reports.
She ousted incumbent Dayne Walling in Tuesday’s election.
She took on an obviously big issue: The city's tainted water system that unfolded during her opponent's tenure. She has a PhD in clinical psychology from Michigan State University.
The city of Flint was placed under emergency manager weeks after Walling was re-elected in 2011.
