Along the terminus of the Davison Freeway,  just north of Hamtramck, is an unusual construction site, reports Curbed Detroit.

It's a production by the artists behind the non-profit Power House Productions, who have teamed up with professional skate park designers from around the country to turn four vacant commercial lots into a new attraction.

They are calling it Ride It Sculpture Park. The first phase is scheduled to be finished by the end of the month.

In a somewhat delated story, hundreds, thousands, maybe millions of skateboarders are expected to converge on downtown Detroit Thursday and hold a fundraiser for the skate park in Royal Oak afterward.
