A summer swim out at the Clinton River in Shelby Township turned tragic Monday.
Mitch Hotts of the Oakland Press reports that a 21-year-old Madison Heights woman drowned Monday around 6 p.m. while swimming with friends.
A man told police he was swimming with two female friends in a secluded part of the river and one of woman never came up for air.
The Shelby Township Fire Department’s Rapid Water Rescue team found the woman's ody about 300 yard from the point she had entered.
Her name was not immediately released. -- A.L.
