In the Free Press, JC Reindl sums up a hat trick of hot spots opening in Detroit over coming days.

  • Punch Bowl Social, a 24,000-square-foot restaurant, bar, games and entertainment complex, opens Wednesday night in the new Z Garage at 1331 Broadway downtown.
  • On Saturday at 11 a.m., HopCat Detroit, a craft beer bar at Woodward and Canfield in Midtown, will open. The bar will have more than 100 different beers on tap and is designed for big crowds. 
  • Next week a 136-room boutique hotel in the newly reopened David Whitney Building is set to open at at 1 Park Avenue downtown. The hotel is part of a $92-million restoration project at the 19-story building, which dates to 1915.
