Detroit-born rapper Big Sean returned to Cass Tech, his alma matter (Class of '06), and it's captured on a video sponsored by Adidas.

Big Sean (Sean Michael Leonard Anderson) was at the school June 8 to announce the donation of a recording studio for music students, Brian McCollum of the Detroit Free Press reports.

The video, which was released on Tuesday, is part of a campaign for Adidas' ZX Flux sneakers.

On Thursday, the Freep says, Big Sean will host his inaugural Uplifting Our Youth Scholarship Fundraiser for low-income students in Detroit schools.

In a post by Detroit writer Johnnie Truant at Adidas' site, the rapper says in an interview on Cass Tech's roof:

"It all paid off how much those times I spent free-styling in the cafeteria, making beats on the tables, selling my CDs around the school and getting in trouble for it. Fast forward ten years later, and I'm opening a studio. It's just a testament to your hopes and dreams."
