The Gibraltar Trade Center, a fixture in Mount Clemens for 27 years, is closing in August, The Macomb Daily reports.
Owner Bob Koester tells the paper the escalation of online sales spelled the end for the Trade Center.
“We are not in any financial trouble -- we decided to sell the property,” Koester said.
“Online sales aren’t going away and they simply are crunching our vendors and their ability to sell products. And as our older vendors move on, no one is replacing them. The revenue has dwindled.”
The business recently surfaced in the media when it was reported that a Canadian man tried unsuccessfully to buy a gun shortly before attacking an airport police officer with a knife in Flint.
