The AMC Gratiot 21 in Clinton Township is going to undergo an extensive remodeling.

 Clinton Township trustees Monday approved the $8.5-million overhaul, Mitch Hotts of The Macomb Daily. It calls for installment of  luxury power recliners in all 21 auditoriums, sight and sound upgrades, new food and beverages, rebuilt restrooms, and an exterior facelift.

“We are talking about a complete remodel of the theater, along with some work on the parking lot, too,” said Frank Lewis, director of alcohol, food and beverage for AMC Theatres, according to the paper. 

In the past two decades, megaplexes squeezed in too many seats and many movie-goers began to shy away from viewing films in theaters, instead opting for video releases, the paper wrote..
