AMC may have recently deep-sixed its Detroit cop series, "Low Winter Sun" after one season, but it's holding on to the show's executive producer Chris Mundy.
Nellie Andreeva of the website Deadline Hollywood reports that AMC has penned a deal with Mundy to develop new series projects.
“Chris Mundy is a fantastic writer and showrunner, and once we had the opportunity to work with him directly we knew we wanted to expand our relationship,” AMC’s EVP of programming, production and digital content Joel Stillerman told the website. “We’re thrilled to keep him at AMC and look forward to pursuing new creative endeavors together.”
Mundy has worked on several shows including "Chicago Hope" and "Cold Case." He is a former writer for Rolling Stone magazine.
In an interview posted on the website of "Low Winter Sun" Mundy says the show had considered setting the show in a city other than Detroit.
" I briefly considered setting it in New Orleans; I wanted a city that was looking for a second chance, like some of the characters were," he said. " But it was Detroit pretty quickly." -- Allan Lengel
