Two years ago, Jena Irene Asciutto of Farmington Hills was “American Idol’s” Season 13 runner-up.
She got a taste of fame. Since then, she's worked on rebuilding her confidence and figuring out "what kind of artist I wanted to be, what kind of message I wanted to send out,” reports Gary Graff of The Oakland Press.
On Friday, April 22, Asciutto releases a new EP, “Innocence,” via the Detroit-based Original 1265 Recordings label, Graff writes. A full album, “Cold Fame,” is on the runway, and Asciutto has a new band together with a growing itinerary of live shows, Graff reports.
“’American Idol’ was great, but it didn’t really teach me a lot about artist development and songwriting. I was a girl on ‘American Idol.’ There were a lot of different things people told me, so many different opinions that were shot towards me from every single direction. It was a lot of information to take in, and I basically just lost myself, " the 19-year-old tells The Oakland Press.
