As investigators continued to pursue leads in the murder of April Millsap, law enforcement authorities in Southeast Michigan had another ordeal to deal with involving an 18-year-old woman.
WWJ reports that the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says Hayley Turner, 18, was reported missing around 10 p.m. Thursday in the area of Dean and Crabb roads, just west of Telegraph Road in Bedford Township.
Christy Turner, the teen’s mother, made an emotional plea for her daughter’s safe return during a news conference Friday morning.
“Hayley, if you can hear me, just please call us, please call anybody,” she said, holding back tears. “We just want you safely home, no questions asked. We just, we miss you. We love you. We just want you home.”
WWJ reports:
According to police, Turner had just left the Family Video store on Dean Road and Louis Avenue around 10 p.m. Thursday and called her friend as she was driving home.
“During their conversation, Hayley stated that she was at Dean and Crabb roads when she noticed a guy laying in the ditch,” Sheriff Dale Malone said. Turner then told her friend that she was going to get out of her car and check on the person.
“Seconds later, Hayley told her friend ‘He has a gun’ and the phone was disconnected,” Malone
