There's been speculation as to why Tigers slugger Prince Fielder hasn't been slugging so much of late. That speculation was only fueled by a recent comment by teammate Torri Hunter, who said Fielder was dealing with some personal issues off the field.
Well, now we have a little more insight. WDIV reports that Fielder is going through a divorce.
The station, citing court documents filed in Orange County, Fla., reports that Fielder, 29, filed for divorce from his wife from wife, Chanel, on May 28 after marrying in 2005. They have two young sons.
ESPN reported that the four-time All-Star was hitting just .245 with one homer and 12 RBIs over his previous 30 games. Overall, he's batting .262 for the season and has 17 home runs. -- A.L.
