Sure, it was dejecting watching Duke trounce MSU 81-61 in the Final Four. MSU looked like a high school team up against the Duke machine.
But there's some upside to it all.
- MSU fans didn't have to go through a stressful, nail-biting night. It didn't take long to figure out that the Spartans weren't going to launch a big comeback.
- Sure, there was a little disruptive behavior in East Lansing following the game, but it could have been far worse had the Spartans won. Victory sometimes brings out the stupidness in some sports fans. The Detroit News reported that at least two people were arrested after throwing fruit at a WXYZ Channel 7 news van at the Cedar Village Apartments; another student was detained by police after he appeared to light up a lighter and a fourth was also detained for unknown reasons. After about 90 minutes, most students had left the area.
- And now MSU fans don't have to worry about spending money to make it to the Finals.
Of course, a victory is more fun.
