Ann Arbor Public Schools has scored a victory in its battle to keep guns out of its schools.
Washtenaw County County Circuit Judge Carol Kuhnke on Wednesday dismissed a lawsuit against the district that challenged its newly adopted policies banning people from carrying guns on its properties, Lorri Higgins of the Detroit Free Press reports.
The group that filed the gun lawsuit suit against the Ann Arbor district says it will appeal the ruling, the Freep reports.
The Freep writes that the decision conflicts with one last month in Genesee County, where a judge ruled that a parent in the Clio School District has a right to openly carry his gun at his daughter's school. The Clio district is appealing.
"We're very grateful that the judge saw the merits in the argument," Ann Arbor Superintendent Jeanice Swift said.
