Crimes at gas stations continue to plague the city, and are a repeated reminder that performing some of the most basic tasks in life are still a danger.

WDIV's Priya Mann reports that Leslie White, 47, was shot to death Saturday evening behind the wheel of a car, and woman, who was a passenger,  was shot and wounded in what appeared to be an attempted carjacking.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. at a BP gas station at 8 Mile Road and Dequindre on the city's east side.

WDIV reports that the gunman approached the woman inside the gas station store. She ignored him and returned to the car, where she was a passenger. 

The gunman then tussled with the driver, who sitting in the car, before firing multiple shots and killing him. The woman, Shanqwa Carr, 21, was shot in the leg as she tried running away. Fox 2 reports that the man was hitting on the woman inside the store, but she rebuffed him.

The gunman fled down an alley south toward Marx Street and got into a Buick Rendezvous. Police are looking for him.
