Businessman/mayoral pest Robert Carmack

The gadfly behind this week's video stunt targeting Mayor Mike Duggan says he has more tricks up his sleeve, because of course he does.

He plans a news conference next week, telling Nolan Finley on his radio show Friday morning:

"It'll be on something else that is a little bit bigger than what just happened," Robert Carmack, who owns a automotive collision repair shop on Michigan Avenue in Detroit, said. "It'll be a big surprise. Let's just say it's part of all of this."

Woo, way to tease! What might it reveal? Big surprise?

OK, then. In case you missed the story yesterday, this should bring you up to speed. But even more briefly . . .

Carmack hired private investigators who followed the mayor for a few days last summer, capturing him driving himself without bodyguards and calling upon a woman in a Wixom condo. If you can add 2 + 2, you get the implication, which caused the mayor and his spouse, Lori Maher, to issue a statement yesterday, which read in part:

"A litigant, angry to be losing a case to the Detroit Law Department, apparently decided to retaliate by hiring private investigators to follow the mayor without his knowledge for several months.  And in the end, their surveillance failed to uncover a single misdeed in the management of the city," the statement said.

"If that terrible invasion of privacy weren’t enough, it got worse," the statement continues. "This same angry litigant then took individual videos of cars driving, spliced them together, and added assumptions and insinuations, all so he could create a negative judgment on the state of our marriage."

You know? One thing the Trump administration has done is make a simple rumor of adultery sort of ho-hum. If Duggan isn't paying a porn star $160,000 through a sleazy lawyer, it's kinda BFD.
