There's quite a few good burger joints in town, but when some folks talk about the best, they mention Miller's Bar on Michigan Avenue in Dearborn where Hillary Clinton made a stop last year during the presidential campaign.

Now, Tom Perkins of Metro Times thinks Lebanese chefs Samer Saad and Jawdat Hashem of Butcher's Grille & Market on Michigan Avenue in Dearborn just may top Miller's as the best in Metro Detroit.

Perkins writes:

Saad is a master with meat, as is evidenced in not only his burgers, but Butcher's Grille's shawarma egg rolls, raw meat menu, kebabs, whole chickens, and everything else that lands on his open flame, wood-burning grill. Most importantly, he understands the value of working with the freshest beef possible. His father started the Saad Wholesale Meats and Halal Distribution Co. in Eastern Market in 1975, so fresh meat is trucked out to Butcher's Grille, where it's ground and cut each morning.

The only thing he adds to the patties is salt — they're otherwise carried by the freshness and open flame. Less is more when it comes to the city's best burgers.

The market describes itself this way on Facebook:

The Butchers Grille is a unique place where you get prime cuts of halal meats, quality poultry, seafood & the finest in deli meats, cheeses, & Middle Eastern groceries.

Samer Saad, the owner of The Butchers Grille, has been in the butchery business his whole life. Alongside his father, owner of Saad's Wholesale Meats, Samer learned old fashioned butchery where identifying the finest cuts is key.
