Ex-Tiger Justin Verlander didn't disappoint in his debut with the Houston Astros Tuesday night.
Verlander pitched six strong innings, giving up only one run -- a home run in the fourth -- to give Houston a 3-1 victory against Seattle, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Interestingly, it was Cameron Maybin, the former Tiger, who hit a go-ahead, two-run home run in the seventh inning for the Astros to give Verlander the victory.
Maybin had just been acquired on Thursday by the Astros from the Los Angeles Angels.
The Chronicle reports near the end of his turn on the mound:
Verlander emptied the tank. His 99th, 100th and 101st pitches each registered 98 mph. He missed just outside with a slider on the fourth pitch of the at-bat before unleashing a 99 mph fastball down in the zone on pitch No. 103.
