At this point, it's probably not likely the University of Michigan's sports teams will be ranked #1 in the country.
Then again, who cares when you have the most lucrative collegiate sporting goods contract in the nation?
Beth Reeber Valone of Crain's Detroit Business writes that the sporting goods giant Nike Inc. will pay the University of Michigan’s athletic department a total of $169 million over 15 years under an apparel, footwear and equipment deal announced July 6.
Crain's reports that contract is tops among colleges.
