Without some context from authorities, or anyone else for that matter, this statement is bound to stir some strong feelings in the community.
Elisha Anderson of the Detroit Free Press reports that Karri Mitchell, the attorney for the family of Terrance Kellom, says the 20-year-old was shot once in the back by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer on April 27. In all, the agent shot Kellom multiple times.
“He was shot once in the back and several other times,” Karri Mitchell said Friday.
The Freep reports that he said he has pictures of every bullet wound and there was an entrance wound in the back, but declined to say specifically where.
From the statement it's unclear when he was shot in the back, after or before, he was shot elsewhere..
The ICE agent has said Kellom came at him with a hammer and he opened fire. Kellom's father claims his son had no hammer.
The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has received an investigative police report on the case and is said to be conducting an independent investigation before it decides on whether the ICE was justified or not in shooting Kellom.
