Earlier in the week, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver came to town and said he wanted to talk to Pistons owner Tom Gores about discussions the team has had about moving from the Palace of Auburn Hills to downtown Detroit.

Gores made it clear no decisions have been made. Still, it raises questions as to what impact that move might have on Auburn Hills, which has been host to The Palace and the Pistons since 1988.

Auburn Hills Mayor Kevin McDaniel says he's not worried. After delivering a State of Community address Thursday, he talked about reports of the Pistons considering a move to Detroit, Paul Kampe reports in The Oakland Press.

City leaders “don’t get caught up in the rumor mill,” the mayor says. “We don’t fault anyone for looking long-term."

Gores has put in about $50 million in improvements in the Palace since buying the building and team in 2011.

Upgrades show a commitment to the building, as Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson sees it. “They put a lot of money in it,” he tells the paper. “You don’t do that if you’re going to leave.”
