An 8-year-old autistic boy was mauled by the family dogs on Detroit's east side Tuesday afternoon while his mother was away picking up the youngest sibling from preschool, Randy Wimbley of Fox 2 reports.

At least two of the dogs were pit bulls, Fox 2 reports.

The mother was taken into custody at the scene by Detroit Police and could face child neglect charges. The boy was taken to Children's Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

The boy was at home with his siblings, 9 and 6, during the attack shortly before 5 p.m.. Authorities seized the three dogs at the home in the 4000 block of Bewick Street. 

Relatives are caring for the siblings.
