Beyoncé, who performed to a sell-out crowd at Ford Field Tuesday night, had some very appreciative words for Detroit's rich musical history.

Telling the crowd about her visit to the Motown Museum on W. Grand Blvd. in Detroit, she said, according to Brian McCollom of the Detroit Free Press:

"I just wanted to say thank you to Detroit for creating such incredible music."

Beyonce, whose husband Jay-Z  attended the concert, mentioned some Motown alum including Marvin Gaye and Smokey Robinson and said the label had opened an important door for other artists and "paved the way for me to be on this stage today," the Free reports.

The Motown Museum tweets:

Wow! Beyonce, Jay-Z and Blue Ivy Carter just took a tour of the Motown Museum!
