Bill Ballenger announced Monday that Susan J. Demas Communications, LLC, has acquired Inside Michigan Politics, his biweekly newsletter for business, government and media readers. leaders.
Journalist and businesswoman Susan J. Demas, 36, serves as CEO of her Lansing-based company. She will become the newsletter's new publisher.
"Inside Michigan Politics is the gold standard for political journalism in Michigan," Demas said in a statement. "I look forward to ensuring that IMP continues its tradition of fair and non-partisan reporting and analysis. Most of all, I look forward to the opportunity of working with Bill, who has been a friend and mentor to me for many years."
Ballenger will serve as associate editor of the newsletter for three years, as well as continuing to do speaking and media engagements across the state. A former state senator and representative, Ballenger founded Inside Michigan Politics in 1987.
"For almost three decades, I've tried to make the newsletter be the essential resource for those interested in what's really going on in Michigan politics," Ballenger said. In addition to running a business, Demas is a columnist for MLive, the news website, and she previously covered Lansing for the Michigan Information & Research Service.
