Birmingham-based jewelry auctioneer Joseph DuMouchelle has a big, or as Donald Trump would say, a yuuuge rock of a diamond to sell.
Kyla Smith of the Detroit News writes that DuMouchelle is selling the 7.45 carat, emerald-cut diamond engagement ring Donald Trump gave to second wife, actress Marla Maples. The auction date is set for June 29.
The ring was designed by Harry Winston and is on the auction block for a second time, the News reports. The first time, DuMouchelle sold it for Maples in 2000 for $110,000 after the divorce in 1999.
“The woman that bought the ring got a lot of wear and enjoyment out of it, and after 16 years, is ready for someone else to have it,” DuMouchelle told the News. “This is the second time that we will be selling the ring, and the opening bid will most likely start at $250,000.”
The News reports that the auction will be held at New York City’s Lotte Palace Hotel and online, and will be overseen by DuMouchelle’s New York office. But DuMouchelle said there is a market in Michigan for high-priced items.
The Dumouchelle website describes the ring this way:
