Bon Bon Bon, a chocolate company with outlets in Hamtramck and downtown Detroit, is testing the waters in Ann Arbor.
Senrena Maria Daniels of Metro Times reports:
Bon Bon Bon is continuing its expansion efforts next week in Ann Arbor, by opening what chocolatier Alexandra Clark calls her "tiniest shop yet." The shop, described as a "pop-up with potential," will be located in the former Jerusalem Garden building at Fifth and Liberty. Clark and friends will be in good company - they're with Katoi in Exile, the A2 satellite for in-the-works Detroit Thai restaurant Katoi. Clark tell us that if things go well at this new location, she may consider this a permanent addition.
Last year, Clark, 27, opened Bon Bon Bon in Hamtramck at 2756 Evaline Street where workers produce handmade chocolate bonbons of all flavors – about 70 in all -- including carrot cake, rhubarb custard and lemon tart. Besides making chocolate there, the shop sells its product online and to hotels and local retailers, including Zingerman's in Ann Arbor. The shop is open to the public on Saturdays, and bonbons go for $3 a piece.
Clark recently opened the Detroit shop downtown in the Chrysler Building at 719 Griswold Street.
