Anyone who works in downtown Detroit or just comes down for the afternoon will tell you it's easy to get bored with the limited lunchtime options.
And for some, the recent addition of Buffalo Wild Wings -- a wildly popular lunch spot at the foot of Greektown -- just doesn't do it.
Here's something that might.
The Free Press reports that Carnival Fresh Mex restaurant opened this week in the Penobscot Building downtown at Fort and Griswold. It's open 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and during many special downtown events, reports Sylvia Rector of the Free Press.
She writes:
The restaurant, which seats about 50, grew out of the popular carryout counter and café inside Pontiac’s Carnival Market, a Mexican supermarket with a wide range of prepared foods, all made in-house from fresh ingredients.
So far, reviews on Yelp are encouraging.
"This place is awesome the food was very authentic and fresh. I will defintley return to this place. It is about time that something new came to downtown," writes Jason a of Farmington.
Keith K of Birmingham wrote: "So Happy! Detroit needs a great lunch place like this."
