Downtown Detroit could get a boutique hotel with 118 rooms, a parking garage and residential space, according to the Detroit News.

Investors say they offered the city $1.5 million for empty land near Grand Circus Park on Washington Blvd, where the Statler hotel used to be. The site is also the spot where a miniature Chinese city was built as a set for the movie Transformers 4.

The hotel would be part of the arena district surrounding the new Detroit Red Wings area on Woodward just north of I-75.

According to the Detroit News, "the proposed hotel would be part of the “Joie de Vivre” brand of San Francisco-based Commune Hotels and Resorts."
