A 9-year-old boy died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Detroit's west side Monday afternoon, Fox 2 reports.
The shooting happened near Barton and Livernois around 1 p.m., police say. The boy was home with his father at the time, and there were other children inside.
Investigators were trying to determine how the boy got hold of the gun.
It's the second time in the past few days that a young Detroit-area boy shot himself.
On Friday, a 4-year-old wounded himself in the upper abdomen with his mother's registered gun in the parking lot of a Kroger store in Troy.
