Boy Attacked By Dog, Shot and Wounded by Neighbor

A neighbor trying to rescue a child ended up wounding the child.

WXYZ reports that the 7-year-old boy was being mauled by a dog in the 7600 block of Warwick on Detroit west side on Sunday night, so a neighbor intervened  and tried to save the child by shooting the dog.

But the neighbor accidentally shot the child, the station reports.

The Detroit Free Press reports that the dog was shot and killed and the boy was being treated for a single gunshot wound to his buttocks at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn.
