An epidemic of heroin overdoses is sweeping the country, including in Michigan.
A brother and sister, both adults, were found dead Monday in the back bedroom of their parent's home in Warren from a suspected heroin overdose, Fox 2's Taryn Asher reports.
They were identified as Edward Babinski, 41, and Heather, 28.
Their parents tell Fox 2 that they had helped them kick the heroin addiction, but they apparently fell off the wagon.
"This is horrible," Peggy Babinski told Fox 2. "If they could have seen what I had to see, your children laying there dead. It is so senseless, it is so stupid."
"We went through so much with both of them, taking them to the clinics and everything," said Edward Babinski.
"Taking them to every meeting, seven days a week," Peggy said. "Every single day and it still wasn't enough."
Asher reporters that the parents have suffered other tragedies during their 43-year marriage.
In 1995, their 18 year-old daughter Chrissy, was killed by a drunk driver and a few years later their 36-year-old daughter Denni died from medical complications.
The brother and sister became closer after those deaths, Asher reports.
