It started with two roommates in Warren calling an escort.

It ended with a Warren cop catching a bullet in his bullet-proof vest and a man,  and cops fatally shooting a man who appeared to be a body guard for the hooker.

The Detroit News reports that two men called an escort service. A 21-year-old woman arrived around midnight.

About 90 minutes later, on Wednesday morning, the men had a dispute over payment.

The escort apparently called what appeared to be a  bodyguard, a 53-year-old Ecorse man, who forced his way into the home and pointed a gun at one of the men. The other roommate called 911.

Police arrived and the gunman started to flee, but not before firing his gun and striking Officer Donald Viars, 35. The officer was hit in the stomach area, but the vest saved him from getting anything more than a serious bruise, the News reported.

Five officers then opened fire and fatal shot the gunman, who was identified as Robert Anthony Day of Ecorse, the News reported.
