Detroit firefighters took center stage Friday for the local premiere of the award-winning documentary "BURN."
The crowd of 2,000, including firefighters from around the country, was on its feet at the film's conclusion at the Fillmore Detroit, chanting "DFD!"
Dave Parnell, a retired fire engine operator, also was featured in the film. He had an emotional moment as he addressed the crowd after the movie, the Detroit News reports.
"This is not Detroit's story, this is the story of firefighters everywhere," Parnell said as he got choked up. "
The 86-minute film took viewers inside the city's notorious fires with specialty cameras attached to firefighters' helmets to give a behind-the-scenes look at what the DFD handles every day.
