Mike Babcock
Is this the end of the line for Mike Babcock and the Detroit Red Wings?
There's certainly that possibility.
Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports that the Red Wings have given Babock permission to explore other opportunities in the league.
And there should plenty of those, considering there are many teams looking for a new coach, and Babcock is considered one of the best, if not the top coach in the league.
The Freep reports that he's looking for around $4 million a year, twice what he currently earns.
The Wings have made it clear they want Babcock, 52, back, the Freep reports.
"If there is a better situation out there for Mike Babcock, he's earned the right to explore that," the Wing's general manager Ken Holland said, according to the Freep.
