Car Crashes Into Federal Courthouse in Downtown Detroit

Of all the places in downtown Detroit, the federal courthouse on Lafayette Blvd. is one of those that is always on guard for an attack. Guards are often flanked outside at street corners and security is tight inside.

So, when a car crashed at the front of the courthouse steps and rolled over, it must have sent off alarms and fears, particularly in these tense times.

But WWJ reports that it was a man in his 60 or 70s, and there was no indication the driver intentionally tried to crash into the building. The car hit a pole, but not the building.

The crash happened around 9 a.m. on the Shelby Street side of the courthouse, and firemen used the jaws of life to get the driver out, WWJ reported.
