A state Judicial Tenure Commission inquiry results in a misconduct finding against Judge Sheila Gibson of Wayne County Circuit Court, Scott Lewis of WXYZ reports in a follow-up to his earlier reports documenting her erratic work hours.

Sheila Gibson handles juvenile court cases in Wayne County -- when she shows up.

He quotes from the commission's decision, which recommends censure by the Michigan Supreme Court:

"It is neither reasonable nor fair for everyone to have to wait for a judge who is not being respectful of her obligation to start Court in a timely manner.”

Lewis, who aired an investigative video report last November that nailed Gibson for her slacker work life, recounts:

We followed the judge for five days straight. The longest day she put in was a five-and-a-half hour workday. . . .

Our report also showed how Gibson was as late as three hours, and was leaving many people waiting in her courtroom, including prosecutors, defense attorneys, clerks, social workers, parents and kids.

The judge had no explanation for us, and she did not have an explanation for the JTC,

Gibson earns $140,000 annually as a juvenile court judge in the family division of county court, according to WXYZ.
