Update, 11 a.m. Monday: A 23-year-old Detroiter is charged in the March shooting of U.S. District Judge Terrence Berg at his home in the University District in northwest Detroit.
Kevin Smith, arraigned Monday morning, also is a suspect in as many as 13 robberies in the area from January to May this year, according to a statement from the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. An unnamed second defendant in the attempted robbery of Berg is a cooperating witness with an agreement for leniency consideration.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy is expected to announce on Monday morning charges in the March 5 shooting in Detroit of U.S. District Judge Terrence Berg, who was wounded during an attempted robbery at his home, according to WDIV.
Arrests have been made, the station says.
Two men approached Berg outside his Detroit home in the University District and wanted to gain entry of his home. But Berg resisted and was shot in the leg. The men fled.
Berg recovered and returned to work.
