Checker Bar
The Checker Bar & Grill, now known as Checker Bar since the guys at Foran’s Grand Trunk Pub bought it last summer, is getting creative.
Michael Jackman of Metro Times writes that the bar plans on having "pop-ups" upstairs at the joint at 124 Cadillac Square.
The bar plans to do pop-ups every Thursday that mainly involves food, the Metro Times reports.
The paper writes:
Upcoming events include “Chops,” happening Thursday, Feb. 5, featuring a fixed price dinner by chef Arthur Harris, including lamp chops rubbed with seven spices and served with a mint jelly, as well as “wild dirty rice” and “honey-glazed tricolor carrots” with a chocolate mousse for a sweet finish.
On Feb. 12, it’ll be “Detroit Delhi” from chef Jesse Knott. Further events sound no less interesting, with “Salt and Acid: Food by Chef Reva Constantine and Elijah Smith” on Feb. 19, “The Lava Cake Bar : Food by Chez Chloé” on Feb. 26, and “Bolti: Food by Meghhan Shaw & Sam Beurger” on March 5.
