Drinking and boating seem to be a natural fit. But many forget the laws of the waterway can be tough.
Brandon Verfaillie, 32, of Chesterfield Township in Macomb County was sentenced Tuesday in St. Clair County Circuit Court to five years in prison for a boat crash last summer on a St. Clair County waterway that killed two, Jeri Packer reports in The Macomb Daily.
He had pleaded guilty to operating a vessel while intoxicated and causing death. The incident happened in South Channel off Harsens Island.
The paper reports:
Authorities found alcohol was a factor in the crash after Verfaillie’s blood alcohol content, taken by the Michigan State Police, registered
as .105 percent. The legal limit of intoxication in boating was 0.10 percent.
