Chin's Restaurant on Plymouth Road in Livonia, which opened in 1955, has closed after more than 70 years in business.
"Dear customers, it breaks my heart that we cannot go any further," the restaurant posted on Facebook on Thursday. "There are just some things in life we simply can't control. However, we would like to thank every single one of you from the bottom of our hearts. I wish everyone a prosperous, healthy life, and thank you again for letting us serve the community for over 70 years. This was one hell of a ride."
The restaurant served Szechuan- and Cantonese-style food.
Curtis Chin, whose parents owned Chung's in the Cass Corridor, posted on Facebook Thursday night: "Sad news from Detroit. My cousin’s restaurant, Chin’s, closed yesterday... We believe it was the oldest Chinese restaurant left in the city. Since they used a lot of the same recipes as Chung’s, I loved going there whenever I had a craving for almond boneless chicken. Good memories!"
