It helps to have auto jobs in Detroit to maintain its name, the "Motor City."

Chrysler is eyeing an expansion of its Mack Avenue I Engine Plant in Detroit, a move that could create up to 250 factory jobs at the plant, which currently employes 144, the Detroit News reports.

The paper reports Chrysler Group LLC is considering investing nearly $198 million in the plant.

"Chrysler Group will be working with the city of Detroit and the state of Michigan regarding potential economic development incentives to assist us in making the business case for the investment," said company spokeswoman Jodi Tinson, according the News.
